The Floatworks Experience

As the UK’s leading floatation therapy centre for over 30 years, we have perfected the experience from start to finish. Here’s a-run through of what to expect, and some tips for getting the most out of your float.

Floatworks Walkthrough

Before your float

  • It’s best to avoid stimulants like caffeine on the day – this will help you relax.

  • Don’t shave on the day of your float - it can lead to irritation.

  • You don’t need to bring anything with you. We provide fresh towels in the room, body wash, shampoo and conditioner in your private shower, and hairdryers, straighteners and natural moisturiser in the Hair and Mirrors Room.

  • If possible, arrive 10 mins before your float begins to give our Float Guides time to give you a full walkthrough.

During your float

  • We recommend that you float naked so that you feel completely free. If you choose to wear a swimming costume, do remember to bring a bag to put it in afterwards.

  • Find a comfortable position in the water. Let your head and neck relax, and feel the tension release from your muscles.

  • You will have 10 minutes of ambient music to help you relax. When you feel comfortable you can turn the light off. You can also leave it on, or turn it back on at any time.

  • Now, all you need to do is float effortlessly and enjoy the experience.

  • The music will come back on 5 minutes before your session ends. You’ll know it’s the end of your float when the light comes back on.

After your float

  • Once you’re out, showered and dressed, visit our Hair & Mirrors Room for hairdryers, straighteners and pure essential oil natural moisturiser.

  • We recommend you take some time to have a complimentary tea and chill before going back out into the world.
  • Our Relaxation Room is perfect if you’re in the mood for more peace and quiet, or fancy reading or meditating.
  • If you’re feeling more sociable, head to the Reception area.
