Ahh, February. With Valentine’s Day just ahead of us, love is truly in the air – and it’s time to show that special someone just how much they mean to you. But we’re not ones for clichés at Floatworks, and if you’re anything like us, your mind is probably brimming with ideas to express your feelings in a way that fits you.
This Valentine’s Day, why not give a gift that could truly change someone’s life… a float!
Okay, okay, sure – we would say that. So let’s have a look at why it could be the perfect way to say “I love you”.
They’ll get to experience all of the incredible benefits of floating firsthand
If you’re reading this, the chances are you’re a regular floater yourself, and know all about the brilliant benefits an hour in the pod can give you. But sometimes, you never can best put into words how a float makes you feel. That complete calmness, the total muscular relief as the saltwater gently holds every single muscle in your body, and of course the unpredictable journey through your mind; you can’t just hear about these things… you have to try them! Of course if your chosen beau appears hesitant, you could always reel off the incredible health benefits of Epsom Salts on the body. Or show them how floating can make them better, stronger and fitter
…And have that ‘first float’ story to tell
Come on – you know what we’re talking about! Everyone who’s stepped into the pod remembers their very first floating experience – it’s something that never leaves you. Much like the first time you heard your favourite song, or tasted your favourite food, it won’t always necessarily be the best or deepest float you’ll experience, but it will leave the strongest impression… and it’s the one you’ll be telling everybody about for years to come!
It’s something you can share (sort of)
Well, not exactly… Floating is intentionally a solo experience. It’s a total sensory deprivation that extends beyond just what you see, hear, taste, feel or smell. BUT! We do have multiple pods down here in Vauxhall, and always encourage inquisitive couples to book a first session together, in rooms next to each other. That way you can talk through your experiences together over a cup of herbal tea in our Chill Out room afterwards!
Practising mindfulness together can help build a stronger relationship
Every relationship is a journey – whether it’s one between lovers, friends, or siblings – they all have their twists, turns, ups, downs, fights, make-ups and celebrations. Practising mindfulness is a great way to deal with any kind of stress in life, and being present when spending time with a partner will make you appreciate every emotion, and help you understand their feelings, too.
Just like yoga, meditation, and other mindfulness practises, a float helps you regulate your emotions and levels of the stress hormone cortisol in the blood – so time your floats together and let your emotions flow!
By all means get the flowers and chocolates, book the table at the fancy restaurant; but if you really want to make an impression this Valentine’s Day, consider giving your loved one the gift of floating.
