We are now temporarily closed
Both of our local councils have asked us to temporarily close Floatworks, pending review of paperwork we have submitted.
According to government guidelines, Floatworks falls into the category of ‘medical and health services’. This means that we are legally allowed to continue providing floatation therapy for the benefit of our members’ physical and mental health during this Tier 4 lockdown.
Unfortunately, floatation therapy is not widely known, and so it is not explicitly listed in the guidelines as a service that should be closed or remain open. This is why Islington Council are taking some time to confirm our status as a health service. When they do, we are confident we will be able to reopen.
As you’ll probably know if you’re reading this, scientific studies have been demonstrating the benefits of floating for mental and physical health for decades. It decreases blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels, and helps relieve hypertension, chronic tension headaches, and chronic muscle tension pain in the back and neck, to name but a few!
In other news, we’re giving away a year’s membership to a lucky Christmas shopper. If you purchase a gift card in December, you’re in with a chance of floating for free throughout 2021!
We hope you’re all doing well, and look forward to seeing you for some pod-shaped relief at Vauxhall, or Angel when we reopen. We’ll keep you up to date with any further developments.
Warm wishes, Ed & the Floatworks team
