Long term floating

I have now been floating at least once a month for over 2 years. I find each session is different although I do use some of the same imagery to attempt to really let go. Although it is still a totally refreshing experience, I sometimes get a bit bored when I can't seem to switch off enough, particularly when really exhausted. I have used some of the techniques in the brilliant Book of Floating but I was wondering if there were any more resources anywhere?

sometimes you have to practice to really enjoy yourself!

hi there everyone

i just had my second float, which was AMAZING!

my first float was pretty good, but i moved about too much, touched my face and got salty water in my eyes. Also, i found it hard to really trust the water and relax my head enough, so i ended up with a bit of stiffness in my neck.

However, the second time my experience was very different. i knew the score with moving about or touching myself (oo-er!), so avoided making my eyes sting.

More importantly, my body seemed to relax much more quickly than the first time, and much more deeply. Especially my neck. i really trusted that the water would hold my weight, and really gave myself to it.

My first float

My first float was dissapointing to be honest. I got to the centre and showered and was impressed by the float room. It looked perfect and very relaxing. However as soon as I got in I noticed the water was very warm. It was just as hot as a bath, and I thought to myself ''is this really the temperature as my body?'' Anyway, I lay back and fiddled with the lights a bit and then turned them off completely. I just lay there and felt rather bored to be honest. At first I felt a bit nervous when I switched the lights off becasue I didnt know what kind of experience I might have, if any but I soon got used to seeing nothing.

Problem!

I have had about 4 or 5 floats now. I enjoy them, but during the last couple I have slept through most of the session! Relaxing in itself, I suppose, but not what I'm looking for...

Is this common? Any idea how I can stay awake?

my first float

was 17th feb 07. i cant really put into words what it was like but it was brill my body did really weird things, i tried thinking about stuff and couldnt and for the rest of the day i was so spaced out my hubby stopped talking to me as he knew he couldnt get a straight answer from me.

the only thing i have to moan about is me and my mother in law were book in at the same time but when we got there they told us that one of the tanks wasnt working properly so one of had to go in then the other an hour later which is fine noone can help it if it brakes down but why did they pick us to go in a different times there were people that can in about 5 mins after who still went in b4 us we had this booked for months and traveled a long to go and found that a little dissapointing.

Unusual experience?

Well Hello:)

I eventually decided to take the 'plunge' and try out a flotation tank (not with this company) but somewhere else whilst abroad. Anyhoo I loved it, completely fabulicious but for one little thing. I had a 'flashback' whilst experiencing this wonderful therapy. It was nothing hideous, actually rather groovy, I was wondering if this occurence is a common one? Also for anyone who is claustrophobic like me, I never felt trapped whilst in these tanks and they have a little light you can switch on just in case. :)

Anyway that's me done. Thoughts are appreciated.

Peace, Aphrodi

Longer than an hour?..... And also where to buy?

Hi,
I love floating, and I can't wait to go back again, the problem is an hour seems to short for me. I was just wondering if it's possible to book out a floatation tank for longer than an hour, possibly 2-4? I was also wondering how much it would cost to buy and run a floatation tank? Any help and information on this would be greaetl appreciated! Many thanks :)

Martin

research material

I noticed under the Research on Floating it instructs people to e-mail for research material relating to floating. I would like any material you might have with regards to floating and hypnosis.

Thanks,
David

Just How Popular is Floating?

Woo this is the very first post ever on these forums!

Now, this may seem strange but even though I've never actually floated, I do believe that it works and I've been interested in it since I first became aware of it in the late 80's. Sadly, I never did get to experience it while living in London and since I've been living in Cyprus the past 13 years, the opportunity for me to try it here doesn't exist.

Funny thing is, that to open my own float centre in Cyprus is the only business that really interested me, even before moving out here. The reason I haven't done it yet is that 13 years ago, I didn't believe that there would have been a sufficiently strong enough customer base in this country, but now my feeling is more positive. The only problem is, that whenever I've mentioned floating to anyone, nobody's even heard of it, which makes the idea of investing in it still seem high risk.
