Woo this is the very first post ever on these forums!

Now, this may seem strange but even though I've never actually floated, I do believe that it works and I've been interested in it since I first became aware of it in the late 80's. Sadly, I never did get to experience it while living in London and since I've been living in Cyprus the past 13 years, the opportunity for me to try it here doesn't exist.

Funny thing is, that to open my own float centre in Cyprus is the only business that really interested me, even before moving out here. The reason I haven't done it yet is that 13 years ago, I didn't believe that there would have been a sufficiently strong enough customer base in this country, but now my feeling is more positive. The only problem is, that whenever I've mentioned floating to anyone, nobody's even heard of it, which makes the idea of investing in it still seem high risk.

So I'd love to hear from people that have tried it and to get to hear their perspective on how popular or well known they think floating is in their country.

good!

Very popular from what I can see

Hi Tzouras, I can confirm floating does indeed work, as I am sure others will testify once this new version of the web site eventually goes fully live. I’ve only ever used float tanks at the Floatworks and they seem to be pretty busy a lot of the time, they’ve nine tanks and after speaking to the staff there, they tell me that they get over a 1000 customers a month.

I’ve only used the tanks 5 times and I’ve found it gets noticeably better with each occasion, strangely, with no two sessions being the same. It’s an odd experience to describe, somewhere between sleep and consciousness and while you are in there you’re not aware of too much. It’s only when the music comes back on at the end that you start to realise that perhaps you’ve been somewhere else. I certainly found that the sense of time had speeded up and was shocked that a full hour had passed. The full effects of tank take time to sink in, certainly when I was showering afterwards I can only described the feeling as being “high”, very profound, and quiet breath taking, after I left the centre, sounds and colours seemed more acute as well.

I don’t think I’m a particularly stressed individual, but I have noticed and so have those closest to me, that I seem happier and more content with life in general. I’ve certainly found the tanks help me to get some of the best night’s sleep that I can remember and I find the overall sense of wellbeing lasts for over a week, and after my last session it was closer to two!

I’ve done a little research myself and I’ve found that there seems to be float centres in most European countries, with the most currently in the UK. For some reason there seems to be a lot springing up in Spain, which surprised me as you wouldn’t imagine stress relief to be high on the agenda there. Having said that I think a lot of people use float tanks because it’s an amazing experience that induces a great sense of wellbeing and also allows you find solutions to life’s trials and tribulations.

I would recommend it to anyone who is open minded and happy to try new things
